If you are unable to do this, then place a cotton piece or a piece of sugar free chewing gum around that area so that local irritation can be dealt with and kindly take an appointment with us so that we can mend it up.

• If your orthodontic wire is poking you, try to push it away from the area with the help of a tooth pick and then cover it with a cotton piece or a piece of sugar free chewing gum around that area so that local irritation can be dealt with and kindly take an appointment with us so that we can mend it up.

Your Orthodontic Bracket has gone loose –

• If your bracket has become loose, it will usually be connected to the main wire by a rubber ring in both tooth coloured and metal brackets. An eyebrow tweezers at home can be used to reposition it.

• If your bracket has come out, keep it safe and get it to us when you come to see us – don’t throw it off.

Your Orthodontic Separator comes off –

Do not panic if the rubber separator comes off, clean that area with a dental floss nicely and rinse thoroughly so that if any piece is left inside can come out easily.

If you accidentally swallow something –

Remain calm if you have accidentally swallowed any of the orthodontic appliance pieces. They will go in the stomach and through bowel movements they will get out of your body. If you feel difficulty in breathing and while you talk – kindly get emergency medical care. X – Ray of that area is required to detect the location of the swallowed piece.

If you break your Retainer –

If accidentally you break your retainer while chewing or otherwise kindly bring it to us, so that necessary repair can be done in time.

If you have tooth or gum sores –

Kindly apply Anabel gel, Dologel-CT or Rexidine –M gel on that area. If pain is there take a pain killer which suits you. Minor sores and cuts will heal within 4 to 6 days.
